Marina Klauser was born in the late 80s in a small village in Switzerland. She later moved to Germany to study directing at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne. After that, she returned to Switzerland and completed an additional master’s degree in screenwriting at the Zurich University of the Arts.

From 2022 to 2026, she directed the four-part true-crime series “Der Engelmacher” for SRG and 3Sat — a documentary investigation into a secluded faith community in the Emmental and the dramatic events that unfolded there in the 1970s.

Between 2020 and 2022, she served as Head Writer of the writers’ room for the dramedy series “How to be sad – the right way”.

Her work also includes several internationally acclaimed short films that have screened at major festivals such as Locarno, EnergaCAMERIMAGE, Karlovy Vary, Oberhausen, Rhode Island, and Short Shorts Tokyo.

Klauser is a genre-crosser by nature: she moves fluidly between humor and gravity, the bizarre and the deeply human — exploring dark subjects with the same curiosity and precision she brings to character-driven comedy and visually ambitious worlds.
